Kynuavr (Cynfawr : "Big dog"). Cynfawr is believed to be the Welsh version of the Latin name Cunomorus, mentioned as the father of Drustanus (possibly "Tristan", though for a detailed discussion see Bromwich* p.329; 551; Pearce* and Kirby*) on the Tristan Longstone** (Info). Wrmonoc in his 9th C. Vita Pauli Aureliani ("Life of [St.] Pol Aurelian") apparently connects Cunomorus with the "King Mark" of "Tristan and Isolde"**. Plainly, if Mark is Tristan's father, rather than his uncle, it gives the story (Summary; Info) an entirely stranger slant...
